A Planned Transition - Not a handover
Established in Port Macquarie over 25 years ago, Shotgun Marine grew from hands-on marine electrical work into a highly specialised marine electronics business as technology advanced and boats became more complex.
Shotgun Marine’s structure today is the result of a deliberate transition - with Terry stepping into a consulting role and Kurt leading installations and workshop work through PMMS.
The knowledge hasn’t disappeared. It’s been passed down, built on, and backed by formal training and manufacturer certification.
As the industry evolved, so did we.
Today, Shotgun Marine operates on a consult-first, service-led model - with technical design and advice at the front end, and professional installation carried out through our dedicated workshop partner, Port Macquarie Marine Services (PMMS).
The experience hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s simply been structured smarter.
How We Work Today - Technical Consulting & System Design
Shotgun Marine now focuses on technical consultation, diagnostics and system design for marine electronics and communications systems.
Modern marine electronics aren’t plug-and-play. Hull type, power systems, transducers, networking, fishing style and future expansion all matter.
That’s why we don’t sell boxes first. We assess the boat first.
All consultations are paid, with the deposit credited toward any future installation, work order or product supply.

We design systems first, then supply and install the right gear for the job. We no longer offer free technical support or advice to people who pick the techs brains then buy from an online site to save a few $$ - They don't get the expertise or back up service we are renowed for.

Terry – Technical Consultant
With over two decades of hands-on experience and a lifetime as a boat owner, Terry now works in a technical consulting role.
His focus is on diagnosing issues, designing reliable systems and helping boat owners avoid expensive mistakes - before any gear is supplied or installed.
This is specialist advice, backed by real-world experience — not sales pressure.
Kurt – Installation & Workshop (PMMS)
All installation, servicing and marine electrical work is carried out through Port Macquarie Marine Services (PMMS), led by Kurt.
Having grown up around boats and marine electronics, Kurt trained under Terry and has built his skills the right way - hands-on, on real boats, in real conditions.
That experience is backed by formal training and certification across all major marine electronics brands.
