Shotgun Marine Navico’s Authorised Dealer on the mid northo coast of AustraliaSimrad System Builder, which is available only to certified Simrad dealers and installers and is currently only designed for the iPad and iPad Mini. Far more than a product catalog with technical specs, the app allows Simrad dealers to easily configure systems for clients on the fly. It lets the salesperson or technician know all the components and cables required for a particular system and can even make adjustments for cable lengths.

You simply start at the products page where related items are organized via tabs that are labelled Accessories, Details, What’s in the Box, Gallery and Spares. The Details section even includes sales tips that explain the benefits of that particular product and how it can work in conjunction with other products. By clicking on the Add button, items are added to a category list and a price quote is automatically created.

As you build the system you can view a schematic of it by tapping on a tab at the bottom of the screen labeled System. It is from one of these drawings that you can see if you want to change any cable lengths or if you are missing any important components. Also you can eliminate an item by clicking on the product image and pressing a Delete button.

There are two warning alerts that could pop up on these schematics. A red triangle alert warns that you are missing a component that is required to make the system function based on the products selected. You can press on the warning to see what is needed or ignore it by pressing near the triangle. Yellow alert triangles warn of non-critical issues that could affect functionality.

When everything is configured the drawings can be saved and a copy sent to the person configuring it. If desired the customer can be copied, along with a quote for all the products and components contained in the system.

Not only does the app make life much simpler for the salesperson, it can eliminate those pesky forgotten cables and obscure parts.
