Navigation Charts

navionics-plus-marine-mapping-charts.jpegMarine Navigation Charts – Setup, Updates & Integration

At Shotgun Marine Services (SMS) and PMMS, we don’t just load charts and hope for the best — we make sure your navigation charts are set up properly, kept up to date and integrated with your GPS chartplotter so you can run with confidence, whether you’re heading wide, working reefs or cruising the coast.

Navigation Charts Done Right – Not Just a Download

We’re authorised service dealers and accredited installers for all major marine electronics brands including Garmin, Furuno, Simrad, B&G and Coursemaster. That means we know how charts behave on different systems — not just how to sell them.

We’re qualified, experienced marine electricians who assess how and where you boat before recommending chart types, regions and update options — because the wrong chart or outdated data can put you in strife quickly.

Charts to Suit How Aussies Actually Boat & Fish

From inshore estuaries and coastal runs to offshore fishing grounds and commercial routes, we set up navigation charts for serious recreational fishos, charter operators and working boats across Port Macquarie, the Mid North Coast NSW and throughout New South Wales, with Australia-wide consultations available.

Garmin Navionics and Garmin BlueChart are popular with Aussie boaters thanks to detailed coastal data, depth contours and regular updates. That said, we also supply and configure Furuno, Navionics and other chart formats depending on your electronics and how you use your boat.

We handle chart selection, licensing, updates and integration, making sure your charts line up correctly with GPS, sonar, radar and autopilot systems for safe, reliable navigation.

Navigation Chart FAQs

Do I really need to update my navigation charts?

Yes. Depths, markers and channels change — especially along the NSW coast. Running old charts is one of the quickest ways to get caught out.

What charts are best for fishing?

That depends on where you fish and what electronics you run. Depth shading, contours and community edits can make a big difference when set up properly.

Can you load charts onto my existing chartplotter?

In most cases, yes. We check compatibility, licensing and software versions before updating or transferring chart data.

Do commercial and charter boats need different charts?

Often, yes. Commercial operators may require different chart regions, update schedules or redundancy — we handle that setup properly.
