LiveScope XR vs LiveScope Plus - Which One is Right for You?
The most common question we get is which LiveScope system to go with. Here is the short answer:
- LiveScope XR - built for offshore, coastal, and deep water. Extended range up to 150 metres in freshwater and 107 metres in saltwater. Ideal for reef fishing, offshore sportfishing, and larger vessels.
- LiveScope Plus - built for inshore, estuary, and freshwater fishing. Exceptional close-range detail and target separation. Ideal for bream, bass, flathead, and snapper fishing in shallower water.
Both systems use the GLS10 sonar black box and connect to compatible Garmin chartplotters via the Garmin Marine Network. If you already have a LiveScope system, upgrading to the XR is as simple as swapping the transducer.

LiveScope performance is heavily dependent on transducer placement and network integration. The most common reason anglers are disappointed with their LiveScope system is poor installation - turbulence from incorrect mounting position, interference from other hull fittings, or integration issues with the chartplotter network.
Our technicians have installed LiveScope systems on everything from 4-metre tinnies to offshore sportfishers. We assess your hull, recommend the best mounting position for clean imaging, integrate the GLS10 into your Garmin network, and calibrate the system before you leave the workshop.
Supply and Installation Packages
Both LiveScope systems are available as supply only or as a full supply and installation package. We recommend the full package for the best result - correct transducer placement alone can make a significant difference to image quality.
